This was written in response to “Thousands” by Leonard Cohen in celebration of his 75th Birthday.

Or Three

If you are a fake,
let us be your forgery.
Who better than you
to hold this sacred candle?
The sagging skin snug on your knuckles
and the pulse of your verse
are bound tight
by wax
and quiver words soft
in a shadow’s homage
upon that gravel wall
we call your voice.
