Uniformed Fools

There is a puttering of water in the gutter above my room.
There are coffee stains on the dishes in the cupboards of my mind.
These four men in uniform
waiting by the street—
are looking at their watches
as though the world was not in synch.
They are waiting for my exit,
so they may introduce me to hell.
They say I spite their King,
but the truth is I spite them more.
I don’t have a problem with any Prophet.
I don’t have a problem with any God.
But the lunatics who follow them are murdering fathers at His call.
If you need a remedy for the fools who follow shepherd sticks;
I advise they try a honeymoon with my mother in Berlin.
