LIKE CHUCK TAYLORS ON A WIRE

Good luck hung
on powerlines,
tied together like
Siamese twins
attached at the
tongue.
Louie finally lost
his virginity—
to a pretty woman
he saw leaning
in a darkened door.
This was his way
of letting
them all
know he was now
a man.
But this was
misunderstood
by some
who saw him
heave those sneakers
up there.
So, soon Louie
made friends
with crack heads,
while good luck
strung him out
high above town;
People walked by,
wondering
what shoes
dangling alongside
blackbirds
must mean
in a grander scheme?
