"Growing up, my experience was shaped by visits to historic reenactment villages, genealogical libraries, history and science museums. I literally went trick or treating at the Wright Brothers bicycle shop one year." Matt grew up in a house cluttered with old family photographs. His parents took their three children across America in a scruffy pickup camper during month long Summer vacations. During these trips, Matt's mother involved him in researching family genealogy; Visiting archives, cemeteries, century old homes, and every place in between. Matt was born in and lived around the Chicago area, growing up. He holds a bachelors degree in education from Northern Illinois University. He utilized this degree for three years, teaching design at the high school level whilst making and showing work at the Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago. Plans abruptly changed when he was tragically bitten on the wrist by a student. At this point, he decided a change of scenery and profession was in order and moved across the country to Seattle. He has since earned his living as a website programmer while continuing to devote his free time to advancing his art and writing. His degree from Northern Illinois University currently hangs above the toilet in his rented Fremont neighborhood dwelling.
