“FOLLOWING PABLO”

I stand around early
Pablos
and listen to the art
goers
talk about how good he
was
when his works
looked "more realistic,"
like every man
he'd followed.

This is why I come
alone
to these museums.

I'd hate to have to
set someone straight
that Pablo only got
good
when he stopped trying
to be
all the other artists
he was not.

Then,
I come home and try
to forget
everything I'd seen
that day.
It's not
easy,
following
Pablo.
