“FORWARD OR BACK”

So very much
to do.
So very little
to do it
with.

When I look back
on
my past year,
I don't very much
care
how it broke.
It's not that my
rear view mirror
is cracked.
It's that the car
is sitting in the
junkyard.
It's that I have
abandoned
the car,
the road,
and anywhere
I've known.

It's that I am
seven miles
from civilization
forward or back.
It's the known
or the unknown.
I can't decide,
so I sit on my ass
seven miles
from civilization.
Forward or back?

I can't decide
and
I can't get up
again.

Now just now.

Let me rest
until I wake
on my own.
