“love song”

Hide me with the bullets
in the back of your gun.
Disarm your love for life
and pull the trigger forth.
Squeeze me through the knot
of your woven hair hung like rope.
Wash me out in the morning light
beneath a bar of soap.
You may save my photograph
in the locket I took off—
or tear it up like skin
of the lover you never let in.
Hide me in your bullet hole.
Rescue me from flesh.
Wear me like the son of God,
hung around your stiff neck.
