“Only by dream”

The people who enter your life
only to leave.
I hear from them
now,
only by dream.

The friend.
The lover.
The intangible everything.

I hear from them now,
only by dream.

All I'd have put on hold
if only to be
beside them once again
only to see,
was I awake when I met them
or was I
but part of their dream?

To live what was love,
only to leave;
to be who I was
when believing
was everything.
Do they dream
where they are
and wonder of me?
Or was I just part
of a conjuring?

To live what was love,
only to leave;
a cruelty that what was
isn't still
all
I believed.

The friend.
The lover.
The intangible everything.

I hear from them
now,
only by dream.
