“SELF DIVIDED”

If I am broken
it is because
I bent too far.
But I did bend
before breaking
and that is
a mighty fine
distinction
among other
broken creatures
of the universe;
born so frail,
they snap
at the subtlest
poke or prod.

If I am broken,
let it be
that I am now
two parts;
equally strong.
Less weak
than I first was
as one.
