“TRAPPED”

We are meat;
living meat,
breathing because of meat.
Breeding to make more meat.
Searching,
smelling,
touching,
tasting
meat.
Dying to become meat.
Killing meat.
Eating meat
and shitting
all we are
and ever will become.
We are meat, dreaming
we are something more
than these bodies of meat
will ever escape.
We are trapped
into a belief
we are free
to be
anything more than grizzle
stuck
between the rotting teeth
of the man
who chews us, uses us.
We
do not choose this fate.
But still, we believe
we embody love
in our viscera.
It is our hearts that feed
our meat.
It is our hearts that feed.
It is
our hearts more
than our brains.
